Fictional project for a dog grooming salon
2026
To broaden my portfolio with branding-focused illustration work, I created a fictional client brief for a dog grooming salon that prides itself on helping anxious dogs feel calm and comfortable.
For their branding I used five colours; sage, warm cream, soft taupe, terracotta and deep forest green. Their visual identity is clean and scandinavian-inspired.
Their logo is a simple circle featuring a happy dog with their business name underneath in their main font.
To visualise their brand identity and create more coherent illustrations for the brief, I quickly sketched the logo and brand colours. This little sketch was something I used for each illustration so I could create consistent and coherent illustrations that would fit their existing brand.
Character design
Emma & Daniel
Since some of the illustration requests included the owners of the salon, I made character sheets for reference.
The character sheets feature information about their looks but also their manuerisms and roles within the business.
Quick sketches of both owners helped me to visualise what they would look like in the final illustrations.
Illustrations
The brief
Create numerous icons that can be featured on our website, in emails and other content. The icons can be of anything associated with our business, such as bubbles, stars, brushes, shampoo bottles, etc.
The brief
For ‘thank you’ content such as emails and contact form pages, the client would like an illustration of a dog peacefully sleeping in their bed.
The brief
For the appointments webpage the client would like an illustration of a happy dog that has just been groomed and is wearing their signature bandana.
The brief
For webpages containing information about their services, the client would like an illustration of a happy dog that is being groomed.
